What this tool is for
ROT13 shifts each letter thirteen places along the alphabet. Because the alphabet has twenty-six letters, applying it twice returns the original, which is why the same tool encodes and decodes. It is used to hide spoilers and puzzle answers from casual reading, never to protect anything.
How to use it
- Paste the text.
- Adjust the rotation if you want a different Caesar shift, or enable ROT5 to rotate digits as well.
- Copy the rotated text.
Frequently asked questions
Is ROT13 secure?
Not in any sense. It has no key and is undone by applying it again. Treat it as a way to obscure text from a glance, comparable to writing upside down.
